5 Reasons Why Every Mum Should have a City Break
It turns out that a massive 87% of our followers want to take more trips away with their girlfriends and to be totally truthful – I can’t say I am surprised. I personally think every mum should have a city break with girlfriends if that’s what they want to do.
As a mum, with a 3-year-old, I find it very difficult to balance life in general and lets be totally truthful here… mum guilt is a total b*tch. This last 6 months I have decided to mute the mum guilt voice as much as she allows and follow my heart with how I want to parent, what makes George happy and what makes my family happy.
My issue at the moment is balancing everything… basically spinning plates to put it nicely without them smashing… which in truth is virtually impossible for a gal like me. You see… if my business is flying… my house is a pig sty…. And if I’m spending lots of time with my son in the holidays the work load is building up and my anxiety rises. I think I am realising that a mum’s work is never done… and it is very difficult to find a happy medium when wine isn’t involved.
What is the Point…
You are probably wondering what on earth the point of this blog was and why I am talking about something that isn’t anything to do with the title but my fingers are typing quicker than I can think at the moment and I just feel the need for the verbal diarreah today…. Ok? Ok? I will be honest with you… I am pretty sure the time of the month is due and honestly; my husband will thank the fact I ranted on my keyboard rather to him so I know I am doing this for the greater good…. I am so Sorry
So, where was I…..
Ahaaaaaa *I’m back in the room*
Today after a lovely trip away with my girlfriend to NYC for a week, YES I LEFT MY CHILD WITH HIS FATHER FOR A WHOLE WEEK. I decided to write a blog on “Why every mum should have a city break with girlfriends” and hopefully… after my blog you too can go and explore… step outside of your comfort zone and find yourself again with your girls in a beautiful city.
I was lucky enough to head to New York City with my girlfriend for a whole week this February and I loved it. I NEEDED it. Is it wrong I want a holiday from my child once a year? Is it wrong I loved my time being me… being free? Maybe for some people… but to be totally truthful this break saved me. It saved me from the dark place I was in after the sudden loss of my twin pregnancy that I am still very much coming to terms with.
So here they are my 5 reasons that I think every mum needs a city break with girlfriends;
Test your pelvic floor to the max
Let’s face it after birth our pelvic floor may never be the same again… Taking a city break with your favourite girlfriends is a great way to test your pelvic floor muscles. My girlfriends make me laugh so much it hurts… and if you keep your tenna lady dry through the city break giggles then your pelvic floor is well and truly back to normal. See this week as potty training and High five to being wee free…. (mine is fine by the way)
Learn about the sights so you can tell your child all about them
We are the fountains of knowledge for our children, so when our children are learning about a particular place… wouldn’t it be good if we can give them more information because we have actually been there. I highly recommend The Sightseeing pass for ALL educational and fun tours. And, Of course, the city break is all about our children’s education at the end of the day and not for us AT ALL
Let your husband spend time with the kids
Today many of us are proud to co-parent, so take a step back and let your partner take all the glory, let him do all the washing, sort the laundry, do the bedtime routines and make tea, he will be in his element…. Sharing is caring right?
Hangover guilt free day
Let’s face it … many of us mums are like caged animals waiting to break free on to a dance floor. I personally don’t know when to stop when it comes to a night out with my girl pals and I feel soooo guilty nursing a hangover the next day when I have to force myself to the local park or worse still… playing games on the Ipad… but not today… nope when your on a city break you can absolutely embrace having zero responsibilities and you are freeing your children of the burden.
Walk around in unstained clothes
Actually walking around showered, hair washed, wearing make up and in an unstained outfit is really bloody nice. It makes you realise that you still have it going on which makes you feel sexy which pays off in the bedroom when you get home. So it’s actually really bloody good for your husband too.
So if you have read this and that still isn’t reason enough for you to have a city break with your girls then fine!! But if I have changed your mind then that is awesome. Every mum needs time to themselves now and again. We recommend the Sightseeing Pass for all City Breaks.
