Be Afraid… Be Very Afraid
This post is a follow up from my previous blog post “A mummy with cruddy skin”, if you didn’t read it Hello…. I am the mummy with cruddy skin…. I am sending a virtual wave to you.
Since having George I really let myself go and my skin regime had gone out the window. I decided that I was on the hunt to find the best products for my skin without breaking the bank.
After a good few days of frantically researching skin care products and talking to skincare specialists all over the country, I was advised that “Natural” skincare products are best for your health and for your skin. Many of the skincare specialists told me that people forget that whatever they put on their skin is absorbed in to their body… then I started thinking about all the crap I have put on my face over the years…. (not literally by the way.. I am new to actual crap on my face) How much damage have I actually caused over my **AHEM** years….???? Ok …. Ok my 30 years ??… Holy shit I’m old!!!
Anyway back to my point…. How often over the years have you actually read the ingredients of what you are putting on your skin? I personally always go off recommendation which is great but what if a friend told you something was really good…? Then you buy it right? … but do you check the ingredients? Everything we use from deodorant to makeup is absorbed in to our precious bodies, I never really thought about this before but lots of brands don’t tell you that their skincare is full of toxins, surely that can’t be good for your skin?
When I was carrying out my research I was told to get an app called “Think Dirty”, unfortunately for you out there with dirty minds… sadly it isn’t as sexy as it sounds. “Think Dirty” is an unbiased app and is the easiest way to learn about the potentially toxic ingredients in your make-up bag and in your bathroom. Unfortunately, the toxic ingredients in cosmetics are linked to breast cancer so it is so very important that we all know exactly what we are putting on our skin and now after a lot of research I feel sooooo strongly about this and a little angry that I didn’t know about this before. Not only are we using potentially life threatening products on our skin but we are also paying for the privilege (I typed that bit so hard on my keyboard… it has really pissed me off)
I searched some of the products I have used in the past and am currently using was absolutely mortified at the results
The scores for products are scored at 0 – 10 with 10 being the most toxic
Skincare
Simple Micellar Cleansing water scored a shocking 10
Nivea moisturising cream scored 10
Make up
Mac studio fix fluid scored 10
Mac studio fix powder scored 7
Mac satin lipstick scored 10
At this point I felt a little sick and pissed off and decided I would stop researching and start to look for new products.
I found out that the secret to healthy skin is natural skincare products and that is when I discovered Tropic. I had heard of Tropic before but to be honest there are that many crazes and beauty treatments out there I had never really looked in to it but once I did I couldn’t believe how natural it was and I checked my “think dirty” app and was so happy and surprised to find that most of Tropics beauty products score 0 which is absolutely amazing.
I contacted a friend who I knew worked for Tropic and decided to have a Tropic launch party for my nearest and dearest and in the meantime I decided to purchase the Tropic Travel Kit to see how I liked it. I loved the fact I had a 30-day money back guarantee so I didn’t feel under pressure to use it if it didn’t agree with me.
As I have stated on my website, I will NEVER lie when I review products as my job is to offer you completely truthful feedback so here goes;
The travel kit is a great way to start if you are just trying out the products for the first time and you want to check that they are exactly what you are looking for. The collection contains;
- Smoothing cleanser (50ml)
- Bamboo face cloth
- Vitamin Toner (30ml)
- Skin Revive (15ml)
- Organic Elixir (10 ml)
- Tamanu Rescue (10ml)
Tropics S moothing Cleanser
On the first evening I squeezed one blob of cleanser on to my hands then massaged it in to my dry yet full of make-up face, now not only does the product smell amazing but it also removes eye make-up too. The make-up literally felt like it was melting away as I was rubbing the cleanser in to my skin it felt unreal. Once I had massaged the cleanser in to my face and neck I then wet my bamboo cloth with warm water wiped away the cleanser.
Bamboo Face Cloth
I actually want a hundred of these, the Bamboo face cloth is super soft and is naturally antibacterial, it feels amazing on your face. I love love love this cloth.
Vitamin Toner
I then spritzed the vitamin toner on to my face (around 4 sprays) it smells great and I allowed it to set and used this time to clean my teeth. This helps to close pores and believeeee me it does just that.
Skin Revive
I massaged this in to my face and neck in circular motions and my skin felt exactly as it says on the packaging “Revived”
Organic Elixir oil
In the evenings only I used around 3/5 drops of the Elixir oil on to my face and I honestly felt great, a little oily but it is oil so that is allowed.
Tamanu Rescue Healing Balm
Tamanu rescue is a healing balm that comes in the travel pack, it is ideal for people with eczema, psoriasis, scars, bites, burns, cold sores, spots and chapped lips. If you are anything like me chapped lips in the winter are a guarantee but I have to say after one night of this awesome stuff my lips felt 10 times better.
What did I think of Tropics Travel Kit?
After a day of using Tropics Travel kit I decided that this was it for me, I am genuinely 100% never going to use anything else on my skin. Why I didn’t take before and after pics I will never know and I am majorly pissed off that I didn’t. After a week of using the kit my skin looks younger, feels more elastic and has a totally smooth look to it. The black dots have disappeared and I am absolutely over the moon. I feel more confident and radiant and I am super happy with the results.
Carla’s Overall rating of Tropics Travel Kit
My honest score for the Tropic Travel Kit is an amazing 10/10 and I cannot wait to try more products, I feel sick with excitement.
