Decorating George’s Bedroom
I can’t believe George is already 18 months old – where does the time go? I know… I know… every mum always seems to wonder where time goes and years ago I thought it was just something that mum’s used to say… but it is actually true.
It honestly seems like yesterday that we brought our bundle of joy home from the hospital. Time goes way too quick when you have a baby and it’s like a click of fingers and you are dealing with a mardy arse toddler who can’t stand it when you use the word “no”.
George has developed his quirky little personality now and I feel his bedroom needs to show that off a bit. He is currently at the stage where if he likes something he gets extremely excited and if he loves something he actually says the words… His vocabulary currently sounds like this “Chocolate, Peppa, Dip, meow” and surprisingly they are all of his favourite things.
When we initially decorated George’s nursery, we opted for a neutral look for a calming effect in the hope he would be calm and sleep well (wishful thinking on my part). I knew we would want to decorate George’s bedroom as he got a bit older but I wanted to wait until we knew what he actually liked so it would be a bit more fun and it is something we could do as a family.
Now I am extremely indecisive when it comes to decorating and I am aware how fast time goes, so with that in mind we are currently at the stage where we are having a look around for kids bedroom ideas with a view to decorate George’s bedroom within the next 6 months.
I have seen some gorgeous, fun wallpaper with a selection of different colours and pictures on, there really is plenty to choose from. I am hoping that by the time it is time to choose, George will be able to express a little more what he likes etc. (I am biding my time hoping Peppa Pig becomes old news – I can’t stand her).
The main problem with George’s bedroom is space, it is our smallest room in our 3 bedroom semi-detached house and I am desperate to utilise the space so that he can stay in there for a little while longer. I was shopping around on the internet looking at different items for George’s bedroom and I came across some fantastic styles from online store’s such as Children’s bed shop – it is pretty amazing how many different types of beds there are out there for kids these days. I mean you can actually sleep in a red bus… who would have thought that was even possible? I personally love the idea of a London themed bedroom with the red bus and some London canvases on the wall.
I am kind of hoping that by the time we come to decorate George’s bedroom he will be out of the Peppa Pig phase and into something a little less annoying.
