Why Buss Murton?
Buss Murton has been providing expert legal advice in Kent and the South East to individuals and businesses since 1713. Relationships are at the heart of everything we do, whether working with our clients to understand their needs or supporting local businesses.
Divorce and Separation Legal Advice
Our Cranbrook branch, in the centre of the busy High Street, offers a friendly family law service. This area of law requires not only the highest level of expertise, but also a sensitive and practical approach and the Buss Murton family team will guide and support you during the divorce or separation process. We can assist with all issues relating to divorce and relationship breakdown, including arrangements for children and finances. Whilst many people will require assistance with all aspects of divorce or separation, others may only need legal advice on specific issues and we tailor our advice and support to the needs of each client. We also advise on pre-nuptial, separation and cohabitation agreements.
Alternatives to Court and Collaborative Law
We understand that some people are concerned that an initial meeting with a family lawyer will inexorably lead to expensive, fully contested court proceedings but we can reassure you that in the majority of cases, this is not so. Although there will always be those cases in which the input of the court is either desirable or necessary, often other methods of resolution are more effective and less expensive, time-consuming and stressful.
We will always consider whether it is possible to resolve matters through negotiation or alternative methods of resolution before resorting to court proceedings.
We are committed to dealing with matters in a constructive way and will advise on the correct approach in order to achieve the best outcome for you in as cost effective way as possible. Where possible, we resolve matters through mediation, collaborative law or negotiation between solicitors. However, there will always be cases where the intervention of the courts is necessary and in these cases we work closely with other professionals, such as accountants and pension experts in order to achieve the best outcome for our clients.
Arrangements for Children
We can assist in resolving arrangements for children through mediation, collaborative law, or where necessary, through the court process. However often parents are able to agree practical arrangements, but still welcome assistance in helping their children through what can be a difficult time and we have close links with local counsellors and therapists who can provide support and advice on how best to deal with these sensitive issues.
