How Much Space Do We Have?
Care Proceedings involve proceedings that are initiated by the Local Authority, in respect of concerns for a child’s wellbeing. Under exceptional circumstances the Local Authority find it necessary to issue court proceedings and make an application to the court to place a child in care. This is often as result when a local authority (social services) decide that they need to get involved with a family to keep a child safe they may start a court case. This sort of case is called a “public law” case or “care proceedings”.
Matters that involve children vary from child arrangement applications to parental responsibility applications. Here at SMQ Legal Services we work hard to ensure the best interest of the children is the main objective in resolving the matter. In many cases it is difficult to establish an amicable agreement that ensures the child spends time with both parents and for this reason we ensure that we adopt a fair and reasonable approach when dealing with these matters. In addition to this we offer support to parents who are considered to not have parental responsibility, enabling them to become a part of their children’s lives and obtaining the right to make decisions for their children.
Divorce is known as the process of ending your marriage, and here and SMQ we ensure that the process is easy and comfortable for our clients. Often during these proceedings family assets are included which can be a very stressful time for families, which is why we aim to ensure that we can reach an amicable agreement between parties to make the process much more smoother.
We also have experience in dealing with adoptions both for the adopters and the birth family. We can advise about step-parent adoptions and adoptions by foster carers.
