Where We Cover
Our office is based in Livingston (central Scotland), but we provide independent financial advice to clients throughout Scotland.
What We Do
Rutland Independent Wealth Management provide Independent Financial Advice for the four key areas of prudent financial planning.
- Financial protection advice
- Investment advice
- Retirement planning and Pension advice
- Inheritance tax planning
We look to build deep and meaningful relationships with our clients to understand what is important to them. We work with our clients to build a specific financial plan which will allow them to achieve their financial aspirations. Once this plan is in place the clients’ financial plans are reviewed regularly to ensure they are relevant and updated in line with the changes that may occur throughout their lifetime (having children, education costs, wedding costs, mortgage planning, retirement etc)
We provide an ongoing financial review service to our clients where we regularly review their financial plans against their future aspirations. We are fully aware of the requirement to be financially prudent and financially protected when starting a family and we take pride from helping our clients grow and achieve their goals over the long term whilst planning for any event in the future that could potentially interrupt their plans.
We specialise in the four key areas of financial planning and focus on understanding our clients needs. These needs may range from providing financial protection for their loved ones to investing for their children’s education or planning for their own retirement.
We focus on the individual and their circumstances rather than take a “one size fits all” approach by getting to know our clients and finding out what is important to them.
About Each of Our Services
As previously mentioned, the four main or key areas to prudent financial planning are as follows:
This is particularly important when becoming a parent as one has a responsibility to financially provide for their children over the long term. An example of protecting your loved ones is taking out life insurance to ensure that there is financial means left to your partner and/or children in the event of your death. This would mean that upon your death your family do not have to endure financial hardship.
In addition to life insurance, we can also provide advice on critical illness cover, income protection, mortgage protection and private medical insurance. Most importantly we will sit down with our clients and understand their financial position and what is important to them. We will then liaise with them and providers to recommend an affordable solution to their needs which will offer them financial peace of mind.
We offer whole of market investment advice to clients who wish to invest for an aspiration over the long term (10 years or longer). An example of this area of planning could be saving for your child’s further education or your child’s first house (or deposit). We will discuss our client’s attitude towards risk and aspiration time horizon with them fully and build a plan on behalf of them that will provide their capital with the potential to grow, tax efficiently and at a level of risk they are comfortable with, over the long term. We will continuously review and monitor their financial plan with them to ensure their expectations are being met whilst keeping them updated on performance and changes in financial legislation throughout the term.
Retirement Planning and Pension Advice
Like investment planning we will discuss with clients and understand what their goals are with regards to retirement. Whilst pensions are an extremely tax efficient method of investing, they are associated with high complexity at times. We are here to make the planning stages of retirement easy and simple for our clients to understand. Pension planning can also be a very tax efficient way of investing on behalf of children for their future wealth.
Inheritance Tax Planning
Inheritance Tax (IHT) is a tax on the estate of someone who has died, including all property, possessions, and money. We work with our clients to ensure their estate planning is organised and as tax efficient as it can be so that their loved ones and/or beneficiaries can benefit from their estate as tax efficiently as possible.
This area of advice can also be complex but can be as simple as having up to date wills in place or having powers of attorney in place to ensure financial organisation in place should a clients health deteriorate.
Trust planning can also be used to ensure financial organisation for children in later years.
With all of the aforementioned areas of advice we believe it is important to understand our clients’ needs and what is important to them and their families. By discussing our clients’ aspirations and understanding their outlook we believe we can build specific plans for our clients which allow their family to prosper.Get a consultation
