Hypnobirthing is a complete birth preparation course, where you and your birth companion will learn tools and techniques to help you prepare for a calm and positive birth experience, unique to your own individual circumstances.
This includes learning self-hypnosis and deep relaxation techniques, preparing the mind and body for birth during pregnancy and also learning about your options and choices for labour, birth and the early post-birth period.
What is included in the course?
At the start of the course, you will receive your own copy of The Calm Birth Method book (by Suzy Ashworth & Liz Stanford), course workbook and access to the relaxation and self-hypnosis audio MP3s.
Up to 10 hours of teaching which includes:
Class 1 – how labour begins, why is labour painful, hormones, the perception of pain, the importance of relaxation, self-hypnosis, wave breathing and the calm birth school techniques
Class 2 – visualisation, the birthing environment, choosing where to have your baby, the birth companion’s role, birth preferences
Class 3 – physical & emotional preparation for birth, gentle exercise, the pelvic floor, perineal massage, bonding with baby, induction of labour, special circumstances, dealing with distractions
Class 4 – the stages of labour, birth positions, labouring at home, what happens when you arrive at hospital, working with the care provider, BRAIN and the language used, birth breathing, meeting baby, meeting baby and skin-to-skin
