Auditory Verbal UK
Children's Books, Education and Language Services in London
At Auditory Verbal UK, we want to see a world where all deaf children have the same opportunities in life as hearing children.
Auditory Verbal UK is an award-winning national charity that helps babies and young children with permanent hearing loss to listen and talk, without the need for lip reading or sign language. Through auditory verbal therapy (AVT), our listening and spoken language specialists (LSLS Cert AVT®) coach parents to enable their children to listen, talk and develop the lifelong communication and social skills they need to thrive at school and beyond.
We offer internationally accredited training in auditory verbal therapy for professionals working in the field of paediatric hearing impairment and work in partnership with a wide range of organisations to raise expectations for deaf children in society.
We work with families and professionals from across the UK at our centres in London and Oxfordshire to create a sound future for deaf children throughout the country.

What are the results?
Our research has found that over 80 percent of children who have been on the programme at AVUK for more than two years leave with age-appropriate language. They can play, plan and negotiate with their friends and many children enjoy music just like their hearing brothers and sisters. For some children, additional difficulties may mean that age appropriate spoken language is not a realistic goal. In these cases we can still equip you with the skills you need to enable your child to have the best possible listening and talking skills.
