Guys Thatched Hamlet
Family Days Out & Attractions in Preston
Imagine a canal-side hamlet of thatched roofed buildings and you’re thinking Guy’s Thatched Hamlet, just off the A6 at Bilsborrow near the market town of Garstang. You will find Guy’s Eating Establishment and pizzeria nestling next to the atmospheric ‘Owd Nell’s Tavern, Guy’s Lodge and School House Square with its craft shop, plus lots more entertainment from Jazz Band and local musicians to Punch & Judy shows for the children.
Family owned and run by the Wilkinson family for over three decades, the story began in 1980 when Roy and Irene opened Guy’s Eating Establishment restaurant & pizzeria. Guy’s quickly became a favourite with many of the area’s local residents due to its authentic Italian food, atmosphere and high standards of service.
Our Thatched Canalside Tavern, originally School House Farm, built in 1798 two years before the Lancaster Canal was completed, sits right next to it. The farm was renowned for Porter first brewed in 1832. Reverend Thomas Duell, vicar at St Lawrence’s Church, Barton resided here while his vicarage was rebuilt after a devastating fire in 1832. We are open all day, everyday.
