About baby massage
It is never too early to start massaging your baby. Massage can soothe your baby and help them to feel loved and protected whilst strengthening attachment.
Gentle, rhythmic strokes of your baby’s body with your hands is used which stimulates your production of the hormone oxytocin that gives you a warm, loving feeling when holding your baby close or breastfeeding. This promotes bonding and attachment and reduces the risk of postnatal depression.
Once a massage course has been completed, you can continue at home as part of your baby’s daily routine, giving you both some quiet time or including dad and siblings. Regular massage offers many benefits to both baby and parents:
Can help to reduce the discomfort of colic, wind and constipation
Develops baby’s first language: touch
Teaches positive loving touch
Develops a feeling of being loved, respected and secure
Develops body, mind, awareness and coordination
Helps to regulate and strengthen baby’s digestive and respiratory systems
Stimulates circulatory and nervous systems
Can help improve quality of sleep
Improves skin condition
Helps parent to understand their baby’s non-verbal communication
Enhances parent’s confidence and competence in dealing with their baby
Can help with postnatal depression
Both parents and baby relax together
Promotes lactation in breastfeeding mums (through stimulation of hormones)
Promotes nurturing instinct (through stimulation of hormone oxytocin)
You and your beautiful baby will be welcomed into a relaxing and laid back environment and given the chance to chat, meet other mums in similar situations and hopefully gain some useful advice and information.
The course consists of 6-9 parents and their babies. My aim is to keep the group small to ensure each family receives a personal touch with added extras, to include:
A gift for baby
A bottle of oil.
Guidance sheets to continue massage at home as part of baby’s routine.
Specific health routines looking at colic, constipation, wind, sleep, teething and reflux.
Final week to include a session on relaxation for mum and baby including recapping routines
A weekly discussion on a topic of your choice alongside some small group activities to support emotional well being
Personal contact via email with any information required on your babies progression, any concerns you have, plans for further sessions along with relevant articles and t.
A taster session of baby yoga
A certificate at the end showing course completion to keep in your baby’s record

A place on the baby yoga course following massage (if you wish).
We will always work around you and your baby. If you need to stop to feed, give baby a cuddle, settle baby etc then please do. You can join in and stop throughout the session to what suits your little bundle. If baby falls asleep before or in the car, do not worry. The information and chats will still be very beneficial and you can always bring a teddy or doll with you to practice on. The sessions are very friendly and informal and we appreciate everyone’s needs.
