Nicola is a qualified integrative counsellor/psychotherapist with experience working with clients in private practice, the voluntary charity sector, the university sector and in the NHS. She has a Research MA and a Post Grad Diploma in integrative psychotherapy and is a member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) and is UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy) accredited, abiding by their codes of ethics and professional standards.
At the heart of Nicola’s practice is the therapeutic relationship and she offers a safe space where clients are accepted for who they are and listened to without judgement and with empathy. She works ethically, respecting all genders, sexual orientations, ethnicities and faiths. Each session is as unique as her client and in her work Nicola offers an individually tailored approach drawing upon the following modalities: Psychodynamic (early life experiences and development), Person-centred (developing self-actualisation), Existential (the human condition with aspirations and limitations), Gestalt (awareness to present needs) and the Transpersonal (potential and addressing emotional, mental, physical and spiritual attributes).
Nicola’s approach helps her clients explore their existing problem, but she also works beyond this to expand their consciousness and gain insights, whilst also offering practical tools to facilitate healing and change. She works primarily narratively and sometimes creatively through dreams, art, play therapy/sand tray, chair work, guided visualisations, bodywork and breathing exercises, as these can bring additional guidance and transformation.
