Our baby massage instructor Louise Goodey is a Certified Infant Massage Instructor who trained through the International Association of Infant Massage. She has also been a Registered Osteopath for 10 years and has 20 years experience as a Registered Nurse. She offers a friendly, welcoming environment with a class that is both fun and beneficial for parent and baby.
Learning to massage your baby can enhance your relationship with your baby as well as improve your baby’s health and wellbeing.
Parents who come on our courses learn so much more than just a massage routine. The IAIM baby massage program is comprehensive and covers touch, movement, relaxation, interaction and communication.
The IAIM baby massage course draws from both Indian and Swedish massage techniques, as well as incorporating principles from yoga and reflexology. Our course teaches parents a sequence of rhythmic strokes and soothing holds.
Our classes are relaxed, friendly and fun. It’s a great way to meet new friends. There is also time within each session to discuss baby topics and share experiences. Sleeping, weaning, teething and tummy discomfort are some of the hot topics.
You are given handouts each week which show how to do the massage strokes so you can practice at home. On completion of the course you receive a Parent Handbook and certificate of achievement.
The sessions are baby/parent led. We want you and your baby to feel relaxed in the class, so please don’t worry if the class clashes with nap time or a feed. We expect babies to be babies.
