Octavia Therapy offers compassionate and flexible counselling services tailored to support individuals through the emotional challenges of pregnancy and the postpartum period. Recognising that each person’s journey is unique, we provide a safe, non-judgemental space where clients can explore their thoughts and feelings at their own pace.
Utilising a blend of psychodynamic and solution-focused therapies, the practice addresses a range of perinatal mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression and trauma. Psychodynamic and solution-focused therapy can be especially supportive for expectant and new mothers by combining emotional insight with practical tools. Psychodynamic work helps explore identity shifts, past experiences, and underlying emotions linked to pregnancy, birth, or early parenting. Solution-focused therapy offers clear, goal-oriented support, helping mothers build on their strengths and find practical ways to cope. Together, these approaches foster self-awareness, emotional resilience, and a sense of control during a time of major change.
For new parents as a couple, psychodynamic and solution-focused therapy can improve communication, strengthen emotional connection, and help navigate changing roles and shared anxieties in early parenthood.
For fathers individually, these approaches offer space to explore their own identity shifts, emotional responses, and pressures – while also building confidence and practical strategies for supporting their partner and bonding with their baby.
