Strokes Ahead was founded in 2017 at Shotton Primary School. Now, with a nomination for Swim School of the year, not to mention hundreds of happy customers, excellent swimmers transitioning into clubs and highly trained teachers, we continue year on year to deliver an array of high quality lessons in a variety of locations across the north east. We keep our group lessons to a maximum of 6 children per class (stages 1 – 5) and make sure there is a teacher in the water to ensure the children get the attention they need to progress. Each of our swimming lessons are arranged accordingly to your child’s swimming experience and water confidence. Each class is 30 minutes in length and is filled with fun, interactive games and productive learning.
At Strokes Ahead, lessons are designed for children aged 3 and above. Each of our swimming lessons are organised and structured to your child’s swimming experience and water confidence.
The Strokes Ahead journey has been specifically designed to provide a unique pathway for our swimmers, from toddlers, pre-school and beyond. Our programme encourages water safety, confidence and awareness. We have designed the programme to be both exciting and rewarding; and the skills that have been set at each stage have been carefully designed to set your child on the best possible pathway for a lifetime of swimming.
Our mission is to teach all children how to swim in a technique-oriented, safe and fun learning environment. Learning how to swim can save a life! It really is the most important skill a child can learn. Strokes Ahead follows the Swim England Learn-to-Swim framework using a progression of teaching points and stages in which all swimmers are provided with the opportunity to learn.
