For our Sunday classes there are max 8 kids in a class so they can be really hands on. Sessions run term time and are 2 1/2 hours (10am – 12:30pm) and the kids take their lunch home to eat and for the family to taste. We tend to work to a more “traditional” format cooking a starter, main course, dessert and baked item. All the food is meat free and I can usually accommodate any allergies if I know in advance. They also take home a recipe sheet.
To give you an idea of sample menus, recently we made a roasted broccoli and lentil salad, then a tagine with lemon and parsley couscous, sticky toffee puddings and lemon and poppy seed cakes. Another menu was potato skins, squash curry, chocolate bananas and cranberry rockies . Classes cost £40 to include ingredients, use of utensils, take home pot and food and a recipe booklet.
Our holiday courses are similar and run mornings 10am -1pm or afternoons 2:30-5:30pm and the kids stay to eat some of what they make (with the rest to take home) and I give them a certificate for all the new food they have tried. We generally cook around a theme – Harry Potter, Italian, Space, Football, Halloween etc.
