TinyTalk is “helping babies to communicate before they can talk”. Parents know that the hardest time is when baby cries and that we cannot understand what they are trying to tell us. Are they hungry, thirsty, in pain, or may just need a cuddle. From as early as 5-6 months old babies can start to communicate through sign language. Just as you can teach them to wave bye-bye and to play peek-a-boo, you can also teach them to sign, well before intelligible speech begins.
We offer the class from birth as it’s good for the adults to get in the habit of signing and babies can recognise signs much earlier (and especially if they are going back to work). Everyone enjoys the music and sensory activities. The adults love to get out and about and socialise with their babies with a cuppa and a biscuit! The terrible two’s can also be a difficult time, but not nearly so terrible when they can communicate with baby signing. Research shows that babies, who sign, can often start to communicate verbally at an earlier age. This is because with baby signing you emphasis the word with the sign.
Our TinyTalk class for babies is from birth to 18 months. The classes include 30 minutes of signing & singing to familiar nursery rhymes & action songs with sensory items such as bubbles, peek-a-boo scarves & flashing balls. We also have instruments, puppets & signed book weeks. We believe music enriches children’s lives. Through singing and having fun, language skills can be developed. Then 30 minutes of playtime for the little ones, and time for the parents to socialise & compare experiences over refreshments.
Our TinyTalk toddlers class is aimed at 18mths plus and its aim is to increase their language and social skills through signing, singing, language activities, books instruments, parachute games and having fun!
