Planning a House Party in the Winter Months
Don’t you just love winter? There are so many fun and exciting events to look forward to. My husband and I often have friends round to celebrate occasions. We always seem to have so much on in winter time with Halloween, Bonfire night, mine and my husband’s birthdays, Christmas and New Year. Throwing a party is always great fun and we do love to entertain the only thing that bothers me about all these winter events is of course…. the rubbish weather, I know… I know in Summer we cannot guarantee the weather but in winter it always seems to be raining.
I do find events in summer a lot easier as the smokers often gather outside and there is a steady flow through the house however, winter is often a different story.
Last winter we threw a party for my birthday and I accidently got a bit “invitation happy” on Facebook and ended up inviting over 50 people to our 3 bed semi…. now my husband was panicking more than me, I told him “people will cancel, it’s December – no one can be bothered venturing out the house in December” and how wrong was I. The doorbell may as well have been the music for the whole evening as the house began filling and filling, the only trouble was the smokers that are usually guaranteed to be outside were inside… What was going on? I looked outside and it was pouring down, I couldn’t believe it. … so this year I have decided to purchase a Party Gazebo. I love a Gazebo… it is like the extension to your house that you have always wanted but just can’t afford.
The first event I have this year is a kids Halloween party which should be pretty straight forward. I have a lot of friends with kids and having the gazebo means that I can have some messy games outside which is perfect. I plan to decorate it with lots of lights and pumpkins which will be so much fun.
The next event I have is Bonfire night .. now as a mummy my job is to keep the kids as far away from the fireworks as possible. My mum used to make me watch from the window which ruined the whole moment, I may as well be watching them on TV. I was thinking of having the gazebo with buffet food and sparklers at one end of the garden and having the fireworks and men at the other side of the garden… that way we get to dress all warm for the night, be safe and then we can feel the atmosphere and see the fireworks to their true potential… After all, putting on a firework display from your back garden is never cheap is it?
Finally, my husband and my birthday are very close to each other so we are going to have a joint birthday party. My plan is to keep all the drinks in the Gazebo to keep them cool and also free up room in the fridge. I am going to put fairy lights in the gazebo to make it all Christmassy and cosy.
I am super excited to get my gazebo, now we can have event’s through all seasons whatever the weather.
