Expecting my new little one in October means I’m looking at baby items all the time! It’s only been three years since my first but there seems to be so much more available and things have changed! I’d never heard of Eucalyptus Fabric until I came across Koala Bambino.
Muslin Cloths – an essential item!
One thing I used lots of with my first daughter was muslins, they are so handy to have to clear up little bits of milk or baby sick and are easy to store. However a few washes in they weren’t looking as good as they originally did and weren’t as soft as when they are new.
I wanted to see if there were alternatives that did stay soft on baby’s skin and looked as good as day one; that’s when I found out about Eucalyptus fabric. I love koalas and it’s sort of my first daughters theme animal, so a simple koala search in Google led me to Koala Bambino.
Koala Bambino are a brand new business started from home during lockdown and after the birth of owner Graces first daughter Daisy. She too was looking at muslins and had the same thoughts as me so she decided to create a beautifully soft, strong and sustainable range of baby essentials, all made using organic eucalyptus.
An Alternative To Cotton
Eucalyptus fabric is much more expensive than organic cotton but for good reason. It’s softer, hypoallergenic, absorbent and much more eco-friendly than cotton or bamboo swaddles, muslins and cot sheets.
Organic cotton can take a toll on the environment due to the amount of water, chemicals and and energy required to make it. Eucalyptus uses less water, energy and no pesticides so therefore it doesn’t contaminate the environment with harmful chemicals. Eucalyptus trees can grow on non-arable land and grow back quickly making it more sustainable.
How is Eucalyptus Fabric Made?
The fabric is made by taking the wood from the eucalyptus trees and turning it into a pulp. The liquid is then spun to create long fibres before being spun into yarn. The yarn is then woven together to make the super soft lyocell fabric used to create the beautiful muslin cloths and sheets.
Grace was so very kind enough to gift me a gift box containing two Muslin clothes and when I opened up the beautifully presented box and packaging I was amazed. They are the softest cloths I have ever felt. They literally felt like silk! The beautiful eucalyptus pattern that is across the cloths is so subtle and pretty and will always be timeless.
Super Soft and Super Strong
They are surprisingly strong given how soft and gentle then are to the touch. They also wash really well on a gentle baby wash at 30 degrees and we’re still super soft and beautiful once dried. I can see these being in regular use once baby has arrived and have no worries about them only lasting a few week… I can see me using these for months and months as if they were new.
COVID-19 has had a huge impact on so many of us and affected businesses so much. It’s wonderful to see the positive side and see new businesses emerging and creating amazing new products.
I urge you to go and take a look at Koala Bambino and see the products they have on offer. You can view their website here: https://koalabambino.co.uk/
