One thing parents use lots of are baby wipes and nappies! While reusable wipes and nappies are on the rise they just aren’t for everyone, that’s why many of us are looking for more eco friendly disposable options.
The Kinder By Nature Range
The Kinder by Nature range from Jackson Reece are just that! They have a wide range of wipes, nappies and other products to help keep your little one clean.
They started the business in 2003 due to their own son Jackson started to develop skin flare-ups with painful red blotches eventually being diagnosed with Eczema. The usual steroid creams were prescribed but they caused more harm that good so alternatives were sought after.
Discovering what was really in other wipes
It was only then that they realised many of the wipes and creams etc they used had ingredients in that just added to the flare ups and caused little Jackson to be uncomfortable. So they set about making the worlds first eczema friendly baby wipe!
They worked with dermatologists and paediatricians and created the Kinder by Nature range in 2005. They launched the world’s first bio-degradable baby wipes made right here in the UK from sustainable wood pulp. Not only were they kinder to baby’s skin but they also helped to reduce our carbon footprint and support local businesses.
Over the years they have expanded their product range to include shampoo, body wash, nuzzle wipes and the mucky mitts hand spray! In 2020 they also switched to 100% fully recyclable packaging; again doing their bit for the environment.
I was lucky enough to be gifted some items from their range to test out with my own little one.
The baby wipes come in two forms, water based wipes and plant based wipes. Both are biodegradable and plastic free!
The water based wipes were the ones specially designed for children with eczema and contain 99% water. They are made from 100% wood pulp so are completely plastic free unlike many of the major brands; and are packaged in fully recyclable packaging. They are 100% fragrance and perfume free so really are amazing for those little ones with super sensitive skin… just like my little one!
The plant based wipes are also made from 100% wood pulp so are again plastic free, packaged in fully recyclable packaging and like the water based wipes biodegrade within 60 days!
They again are made from 99% naturally derived ingredients from renewable vegetable or plant extracts. Contain 0% alcohol, parabens, SLS, SLES, lanolin, phthalates, phenoxyethanol or benzoates; but this time contain soothing, skin-nourishing organic aloe vera and chamomile.
Both forms of wipes are also vegan friendly. They are super soft of the skin and pretty robust to even clean the muckiest of faces or messiest bums! We’ve used them for a couple of weeks now cleaning dirty faces and sticky hands and they haven’t irritated my daughters delicate skin at all! The wipes themselves are quite strong and don’t tear easily like some other brands so you really can give a good clean using less wipes too.
The Nuzzle Nose Wipes
The Nuzzle Nose wipes are just like the baby wipes but are specially designed to clean mucky noses and faces. Perfect for children with colds or allergies so noses don’t get sore and red.
The wipes are infused with calming chamomile and organic aloe Vera to stop the constant wiping of noses irritating the skin. They are made from more than 99% naturally derived ingredients from renewable vegetable or plant extracts. Contain 0% alcohol, parabens, SLS, SLES, lanolin, phthalates, phenoxyethanol or benzoates and are pH balanced, dermatologically tested and paediatrician approved.
We have used these in the warm weather where my little one seemed to suffer from hayfever and constant drippy nose, usually this would just be wiped with tissue and her nose would be bright red and sore; but using these wipes meant it was much gentler on her nose and there was no irritation at all.
Mucky Mitts Hand Spray
The Mucky Mitts Hand Spray is something I’d never heard of or thought of before but it’s genius! It contains soothing aloe vera, nourishing ylang ylang oil and tea tree oil for its natural germ-fighting properties. Has 0% alcohol, parabens, SLS, SLES, lanolin, phthalates, phenoxyethanol or benzoates; is pH balanced and 100% unscented, fragrance and perfume free.
Especially in the current climate where hand washing is a huge priority and something my little one has become a bit obsessed about; having this little spray in the bag has been a god send! A couple of spray and she rubs her hands together taking about any stickiness, dirt or nasties… all thanks to natural ingredients.
The handy design means it can clip on to a bag or can be easily stored just like you would a pen. With the recent warm weather it has been handy just to freshen hands up after a walk or play.
Environmentally Friendly at the Heart
Plastic-waste is one of the leading causes of pollution in our world today. With the average family using up to 156 packets of baby wipes a year, it’s more important than ever to switch to eco-friendly alternatives and do all we can to keep our seas plastic-free.
All in all i would continue to use these wipes and do intend on subscribing once my new little one arrives in October. We as a family have made changes to our lives to be more eco friendly and help protect our oceans; using wipes and products like these that help do this, and support a business whose whole ethos is to be 100% eco friendly is an amazing feeling! They even offer trial packages so you can see what you think before committing to a whole box!
