Pilates
‘In 10 sessions you will feel the difference, in 20 you will see the difference, and in 30 you will have a whole new body’ Joseph Pilates
Pilates is respected and recommended by leading medical professionals for rehabilitation and enhancement of the body’s performance and functionality. Pilates improves flexibility, builds strength and develops control and endurance in the whole body. On your Pilates course you will work on improving your posture and alignment, you will learn how to control your breathing to enhance your performance of the exercises, you will develop strong (centre/core) muscles to support your back and spine, and will improve your balance and coordination. All courses work on the original principles and fundamentals of Pilates and work towards to the full 34 Pilates moves.
Yoga
Yoga is many thousands of years old with a rich history of culture, religious beliefs and practices. Yoga translated means ‘join or unite’ the mind, body, soul and spirit through exercise (asanas), breathing, relaxation, diet and positive thinking (meditation). Yoga will build strength, improve flexibility/agility, balance and harmonise the mind and body.

Testimonial:
“I thoroughly recommend some one to one training which has ensured I get the most out of the exercises in class and at home. We addressed relieving tension in the shoulders and correcting technique.” Sara Sherwood
Before you Exercise:
If you have any neck or back issues, you need to be ‘relatively’ pain free to attend Yoga or Pilates. Please seek professional advice from an osteopath, chiropractor or physiotherapist if in any doubt.
Exercise during Pregnancy:
If you are pregnant I can adapt the exercises as you grow! As long as you have a healthy pregnancy you should enjoy and benefit from Yoga and Pilates. If in doubt check with your doctor, midwife or a health care professional first.
Please note, only three pre-natal clients can be accommodated per class. Contact me to check availability and to book a space. (There is a small charge to hire a support wedge for your class)
If you have any other doubts about your health or starting a new exercise regime please check with your doctor first. You will be asked to complete a physical activity awareness questionnaire (PARQ) at your first session.
Testimonials
Debbie Davies says:
“My first Yoga last night was utterly amazing, last night was the first night I slept through in months. Thank you so much, can’t wait for next week”. November 2016
Karen Hawkes says:
“Nine months ago, when I first started the Pilates for Beginners programme, I struggled to sit cross-legged and co-ordinate breathing with moving my arms and legs. Last night, I actually achieved a shoulder stand (over forty years after my last attempt!) and am still feeling euphoric hours later. Pauline has got me using muscles I never knew I had and doing moves I never knew I was capable of. Every one of Pauline’s classes I’ve been to has been amazing – challenging, positive and inclusive – and I am so pleased I took the plunge, signed up and experienced such a wonderful journey”. March 2016
Inga Pikse says:
“As a pregnant participant of these classes I felt very well looked after. From a special prop, to a 1:1 pre-class briefing on moves of the session and how they could and should be done while pregnant. The size of the group is lovely, not too big and not too small. Highly recommend this course for all mums-to-be.” September 2015
