Many congratulations on your pregnancy from Jo at Your Birth Your Baby Complete Midwife-led Antenatal and Hypnobirthing Course!
You’re probably here because you already understand the importance of feeling informed, confident and self-empowered during this exciting and sometimes overwhelming time.
Whether this is your first, your only, your next or your last baby, how you approach your preparation for birth and early parenting is a significant and very personal decision.
In choosing YBYB, you get not only a qualified midwife, but also a certified hypnobirthing teacher, an expert antenatal educator and a proud mum of 4, all rolled into one!
My successful Your Birth Your Baby complete midwife-led antenatal & hypnobirthing course has now been extended to provide a total of 15 hours of evidence-based, realistic information, in an interactive and inclusive format for you and your choice of birth partner.
There is a full evening live online ‘Catch-up and Questions’ bonus session taking place at a time to suit all within a month of the 12 hour in person course.
Each group session is kept small (with a maximum of 5 client and birth partners) to enable a more personalised experience as I can tailor each course according to those that attend and the questions that come up organically on the day.
I teach Tuesday evenings at Poppies Day Nursery in Knutsford WA16 and weekends at Broussa Day Nursery in central Hale WA15. Both are beautiful buildings in quiet residential areas with ample free parking on non-restricted roads. They are such warm, welcoming environments and seem so appropriate for Your Birth Your Baby. Oxytocin flows as we admire the precious prints of pudgy painted handprints on display.
People say that if you genuinely love what you do, it’s clear for all to see and having specialised in antenatal education provision throughout my career, I’m particularly proud that 100% of YBYB course attendees recommend my course to friends/family members.
So what actually is Hypnobirthing?
Hypnobirthing has many similarities to sports psychology, which is used by top athletes to improve the strength of both mind and body. Most people seem to easily grasp the value of psychological preparation in sport, but somehow when similar principles are applied to birth preparation, there is a view that it might be somehow ‘hippy’, niche or ‘out there’! Just as sports psychologists work across a wide range of sporting disciplines, so hypnobirthing can be useful to women and their birth partner across a wide range of birth experiences.
So, are you hypno-curious?
You might come along mainly for the antenatal preparation and physiological education, feeling somewhat sceptical about whether hypnobirthing is for you. But you may actually find that the mind/body connection content is both fascinating and liberating and enhances your pregnancy and preparation for birth.
You might already be all about the hypnobirthing content but grow to realise that, in order for hypnobirthing to be truly beneficial, you need a solid physiological foundation to hang it all on.
Your birth rights and choices MATTER!
Most importantly and therefore threaded throughout the entire course, is a firm focus on your birth rights and choices.
We all know that knowledge equals power. And your pregnancy and birth knowledge will certainly ramp up during the course! But learning how to harness that knowledge and use it in a powerful way to make the right choices for you, is of fundamental importance as you prepare for your birth.
During the course, you will learn how to use a simple but effective decision making framework to help you to ask empowered questions which will inform your care options during pregnancy and birth.
You will also learn how to research and write meaningful, considered and informed birth preferences together in order to individualise your care according to your own particular circumstances.
Underpinned by a solid evidence-base and coming from the perspective of someone who has worked with women within ‘the system’, YBYB can help you to reduce your risk of becoming a passive passenger on the conveyor belt of routine care practices, and in doing help to so stack the odds in your favour of becoming a knowledgeable and respected participant in your care.
So, let me absolutely assure you that the YBYB course is founded upon years of relevant professional (and some personal) experience and is most definitely inclusive of ALL types of birth, ALL types of birthing person and ALL types of birthing partner.
You will benefit from a comprehensive 15 hour program, that begins with a fundamental understanding of how your birthing body works on a muscular and hormonal level, and progresses through 4 informative, interactive and thought provoking modules.
Not all courses are created equally. Some antenatal courses will give you the biological facts and then miss the opportunity to share knowledge, tools and techniques that can help to enhance the physiological process of birth however your labour unfolds.
Conversely, some courses may offer a great hypnobirthing toolkit but not be best placed to prepare you to navigate the system, often due to only having limited real life birth experience to draw upon.
My qualifications and experience as a midwife, hypnobirthing teacher and antenatal educator, make for a powerful combination which enables me to bridge that gap. The YBYB course not only delves deeply into all aspects of birth physiology, but also guides you towards learning how you can support birth physiology using the hypnobirthing tools and techniques explored during the course and practiced by you during your pregnancy.
Your baby’s birth is undoubtedly one of the biggest events in your life and feeling capable of taking an active role in making decisions from a place of knowledge instead of fear, is surely much more likely to lead to an empowered and satisfying experience?
As a birth educator, my job is to provide a comprehensive and realistic course that will help prepare you to make confident, informed decisions. Having the knowledge and ability to ask the right questions can lead to more choice and a more empowered birth no matter what path your birth follows. You will never regret the work you put in to raise your chances of achieving your best birth, whatever that birth may look like.
When compared to other big life events (your wedding for example), do most of us plan ahead in an attempt to make it the best day possible or do we tend to ‘go with the flow’ and hope to somehow muddle through on the day?
There is real pressure on our maternity services at the moment with less people trying to do more work, and this means inevitably that there may be less time and opportunity to discuss your thoughts and feelings about different aspects of your pregnancy and birth in a more holistic way.
My new and extended Complete Midwife-led Antenatal and Hypnobirthing Course is now born! It’s been a real labour of love and I’m so excited to get started.
By investing in a professionally led complete antenatal and hypnobirthing course with quality continued support available from course booking, in the lead up to your birth and beyond, you can feel more heard and be better equipped.
Please see the website for a detailed description of all 4 module contents and what is included in the fantastic new package during the duration of the course and by way of post course resources and after care.
Also you will find upcoming course dates, location details, my informative blog page, FAQs, more about me and finally a contact page for you to fill in if you’d prefer. Otherwise ’Book a Call’ and we can discuss how I can best support you as you look forward to meeting your brand new human!
Knowing your options, understanding those options and feeling confident in making choices together that are right for you and your baby can increase your feelings of satisfaction and control in a birth that you have starred in rather than endured.
The finer details surrounding mode of birth are often not the true essence of your birth experience when you look back. How you felt during the experience is what matters most and if you say your birth was a positive experience, then it was. For most women, that positive feeling comes from working together as a birth team and being at the centre of the decision making around your own birth. ‘Going with the flow’ sadly often leads to feelings of surrendering control and less satisfaction in your birth experience.
So, do you and your birth partner want to be active and respected participants in your care, feeling knowledgeable and confident about your choices as you approach your birth?
Would you benefit from access to quality support during and after the course and through to your early baby days?
Are you ready to meet and get to know actual humans in person who are going through a similar period of excitement, growth and change?
If so – please ‘book’ a call with me and we can chat together about how I can best support you and any special circumstances that you may wish to discuss.
It’s always lovely to start getting to know you before we meet in person and it’s important that you feel confident and happy about trusting me and YBYB to be a small part of your birth and early parenting preparation journey.
I’m already looking forward to meeting you!
