We interview Lottie from “The Haymans” about Christmas.
Lottie tell us about your fabulous blog
I have always been interested in blogging and have had various blogs in the past but never really stuck with them. The Haymans came about when I was on maternity leave after having Polly, my second daughter. I wanted to get some more structure into my eldest daughter, Marnie’s day as I had the both at home with me and we were definitely spending a lot of time watching Disney films! I started to blog about different play activities I was doing with the girls (mostly Marnie as Polly was only a few months old!) and it gradually developed more into a place where I could record memories, and things that we were doing as a family. I recently had a break from blogging whilst I was studying but I’m slowly getting back into the swing of things and really enjoying spending time writing!
Have you got your Christmas pressies?
No!!! Polly’s birthday is 26 November and Marnie’s 29 October so we are so busy at this time of year, I am very disorganised when it comes to Christmas these days. I have a few ideas and a load of stuff in my Amazon basket but I must get a move on and order stuff! I hate going to the shops at this time of year so I’ll be doing all my shopping online.
What have the kids asked for from Santa this year?
Polly has just turned one so she’s a bit little to ask for anything, however I asked Marnie yesterday and she told me she wanted a Belle dress and a Cinderella dress – both of which she already has! Back to the drawing board for Father Christmas then!!!
Do you have a mummy night out planned?
Not this year. I’m definitely a home bird and would rather spend the evening at home with friends having a takeaway and playing games! It’s my wedding anniversary this week though so my husband and I are going out for a child free dinner… luxury!
What is your biggest dilemma at Christmas?
How to spend Christmas day! We really love to see our family on Christmas day and for them to see the girls, but equally we like to spend the day at home so the girls can play with their presents.
What do you do Christmas day?
We get up early (it’s me, not the children, that wakes really early!!) and spend the morning opening presents and eating rubbish for breakfast. Then my in-laws pop over for an hour or so before lunch. After lunch we’ll do some more playing or watch a film (last year we were all really poorly so we had family nap time!) and then my parents, brother and his girlfriend come round for more food and board games!
Do you do anything for new year?
Having two small children makes it a bit tricky to do anything! Before we had children we always went out for Mexican food and cocktails and then headed home to watch the fireworks on the TV. Now we just struggle to stay awake until midnight! Last year Polly was really poorly and was in hospital with Bronchiolitis, so we spent New Years eve in high dependency at our local hospital. We’re hoping for a better one this year!
What are you most looking forward to?
All being healthy and well enough to enjoy Christmas this year! And, on Christmas eve we are taking the girls to see Father Christmas at Finkley Down Farm, the Christmas event they have on there sounds magical. I can’t wait to see what they make of it.
