Our Favourite Blogger of the Month is Stephanie from A
I have had the pleasure of knowing Stephanie since the day she was born, she is my cousin, my friend and a blogging buddy too. Stephanie is fairly new to the blogging world but I am absolutely loving her blogs, here is our interview with Stephanie.
Stephanie, tell the MyBump2Baby community a bit about yourself?
I’m a 29 year old mum of two kids. I’ve got Izzy who is 2 1/2 and Nate who is 6 months. We have a dog called Charlie and two cats called milo and Jonsey. I am married to a guy called Dan, we have been married for 4 years and together for 6. When I’m not on maternity leave, I work as a neonatal intensive care nurse and it is a job a absolutely love.
What made you start blogging?
I started blogging as a way to make sense of the thoughts and feelings I was having, after finding out my son would be born different. He has a total of 6 toes and only one on one foot, being a NICU nurse I did have an understanding that these things usually coincide with something else. We had to have scans at a specialist centre to eliminate any other problems. Luckily for us his foot was just ‘one of those things’, however it still look it’s toll on me and I knew I needed to start dealing with how I felt … so I made a blogging account and started writing – and it was the best thing I ever did.
What is your blog about?
It’s about having a child with a limb difference, I want to raise awareness for having a child born differently but also to let other mums and dads they aren’t alone. I found finding out that something was wrong at 20 weeks really hard to deal with and didn’t know where to go – my aim is to just let a parent know there is someone here for you.
Since researching into limb difference, I have come to realise there are a lot of amazing stories about hands and arms, or talipes or hip problems, however I have struggled to find someone who has just a foot that is different. I am still searching but I have loved hearing from anyone with a limb difference and looking forward to speaking to more people on our journey.
What is your favourite part about blogging?
I love it when I’ve finished a blog post and I hit ‘preview’ and see my words and pictures looking good together. Sometimes I read what I’ve written and can’t believe I’ve actually written it!
What is your least favourite part about blogging?
Being a regular poster! I’m struggling with finding time to just spend an hour or two to just sit and write.
What books do you like to read?
I really like psycho thrillers. I like books that make me think or throw a curve ball.
What do you like to do at weekend?
I like to have a bit of ‘me time’! Something like having a long hot shower or walking the dog on my own. Spending time with my kids with the help of my husband is great as well, nice to share the load and have some fun together.
What are you scared of?
Heights! Watching videos from high up make me feel funny let alone actually being somewhere high up.
What do you love?
Food. I love food, I love going out for coffee and cake, eating out, trying new foods. I don’t like cooking, but I do enjoy the rest.
What is your favourite things to do in your spare time?
That’s a tough one. I’ve enjoyed running, card making, crocheting, craft bits in the past, and I would love to get into running and something crafty again. Hopefully I’ll find some proper spare time soon.
Tell us an interesting fact about yourself?
This is a tough question to! I’m not sure if it is interesting but I used to do ballroom dancing before strictly hit the tv screens. I eve have certificates and medals for it to.
