Hafan Y Mor Haven Review
As Haven holiday lovers, we had been to this site before but stayed in an apartment, we heard amazing things about staying in the static caravans at the Hafan Y Mor holiday park, and we had to check it out for ourselves. Hafan y Môr Holiday Park is one of Haven’s biggest parks, and we decided it was time to go there again and share our honest Hafan y Mor Haven Review with you.
Now if you follow us on YouTube or you have visited our blog before to read other Haven reviews, you will know how much we love our Haven caravan breaks. We have reviewed a few Havens now, you might have seen our Presthaven Sands Review, Primrose Valley Haven Review or our Blue Dolphin Haven Review. A couple of weeks ago, I also shared my Lakeland Haven Review too.
A few years ago, we came to Hafan Y Mor before, and we stayed in a comfortable apartment as there were no caravans left, this wasn’t really for us as I missed being in a caravan. We go to Haven’s as we like the cosiness of a caravan, so I personally wouldn’t rebook the apartments again at Hafan Y Mor.
Where is Hafan Y Mor located?
Hafan Y Mor Review is located in a place called Pwllheli, Gwynedd, North Wales. It is on the Llyn Peninsula near Porthmadog, an area well known for its stunning beaches and scenery.
What type of accommodation is there at Hafan Y Mor holiday park?
The Hafan Y Mor holiday park has a large selection of accommodation options to suit different budgets. The different types of accommodation include lodges and apartments, and they also have a tent and touring area which is where we would be if we brought our caravan, but we didn’t this time, we opted for the static caravan as we were going with friends.
The caravans range from budget-saver models to more luxury models. This time we opted for a silver Caravan. If you are wondering what to bring to Haven you can read our blog on Items to Bring to Haven.
Our silver Caravan had the following
- 2 bedrooms (2 single kids beds in one room and a double bed in a room)
- A kitchen with a dishwasher
- A dining Table
- A decking area
- A comfortable lounge with a TV on the wall
- Toilet and shower room
- Our bedroom had a TV on the wall an an en-suite.
We did have to order a travel cot and also a highchair, we did this as we couldn’t fit anymore in our car. Please note: The travel cots come without a mattress so remember to bring your own. The price to hire the travel cot was £7.50 for the weekend, the high chair was £7.00 to hire which did irritate me slightly. Haven offers family holidays but then charges you for the use of a high chair, I understood the cot, but the highchair was just a bit frustrating, and I could understand why that would annoy people, especially if a family is there on a budget.
DOES HAFAN Y MOR HAVE A TOURING SITE
As we have a caravan, we were interested to know if this amazing park has a touring area for caravans and we are delighted to say it does. We didn’t get a chance to see it but I would like to come back here and review the touring pitch.
Before coming to Hafan Y Mor Haven
A couple of things I recommend you do before coming to Haven;
- Book your swimming slots, these fill up fast and you don’t want to miss out on this fantastic swimming pool.
- Book in the restaurant if you want to eat there.
- Bring a mattress and sheet for the cot if you are going to order one.
- Order a Morrisons food delivery via Amazon Prime once you know your address (this stops food taking up room in your car and also stops unnecessary spending in the mini markets.)
- Book your activities on the app to avoid disappointment (be prepared for it to take a while, the app isn’t very user-friendly)
FREE WIFI at Hafan Y Mor
To my delight, Haven has recently been testing out the new caravan wifi boxes which is great. The WIFI was great, it meant the kids could stream, and I could log in to work without worrying so to see this new feature was exciting as lack of WiFi when I have an online business just didn’t an option for me and something I have to consider each and every time we come away to a holiday home for the weekend.
The wifi in the caravan worked well, I am unsure if every caravan now has this, you might want to check before you go if wifi is important to you too.
Swimming at Hafan Y Mor Haven Holiday Park
This swimming pool is awesome, it has slides, a wave pool, a lazy river and young kids’ area. The pool was warm which if you have watched my other videos and read my other blogs is a huge factor for me.
For the changing rooms, you need a pound coin for the lockers, the changing rooms are relatively clean, and there is always a staff member tidying up around everyone.
There is a buggy station where you can park your buggy so don’t worry about trying to carry everything plus a baby,
The changing rooms were mixed which is always handy, but they were a little on the small side, all four of us fit in the changing room but only two of us could get changed at a time due to the size. It would have been handy if they had a changing table for the baby to lie on or a chair they could be strapped in whilst we go ready, my daughter Olivia-Grace is currently 16 months, so she is very much on the go, and the lack of restrictions made it hard work for us.
There is a spectators area where family members can sit and watch, there is also a shop that sells nappies and eveything.
Food Places at Hafan Y Mor
Food is always on my mind, from the moment I wake up till the moment I go to sleep I am thinking about my next meal. If you are thinking of going to the resturant for a meal I highly recommend booking the restaurant before coming to Haven to make sure you get the time slots you want.
There are the following places to eat at Hafan Y Mor
Take aways at Hafan y mor
– Slim Chicken (love this place)
– Burger King
– Papa Johns
– Cooks Fish and Chips
– millies cookies
The Coastal Resturant
We ate at this resturant on Saturday afternoon, the food took a while, and by the time our chips came, we had already finished the food which was a bit frustrating. The food was nice. They wouldn’t heat my daughter’s baby food which I found a bit disappointing because she was due to eat lunch and I had to wait until after to feed her which as you can imagine, it made eating our lunch more stressful than it should have been. After this I wasn’t really fussed to eat at this resturant again.
The Mini Markets
The mini markets are good, lots in them and you can grab dinner from there and cook it in your caravan. Obviously, the price at these mini markets are more expensive but it did have everything you need.
Food shop delivery
We actually ordered Morrisons delivery to our caravan when we arrived, you can do this for free if you have Amazon Prime. We usually order from Tesco, but they wouldn’t deliver here Morissons did, and this was handy, it meant our car wasn’t too full of shopping and we had a nice delivery pretty much as soon as we arrived on site.
Evening Entertainment at Hafan Y Mor Holiday Park
The evening entertainment was brilliant, as this Haven is bigger there were two entertainment rooms on at the same time.
We started in one and went to the Cove later in the evening. It was bigger and had some great dance music on, it was like reliving our youth with our kids dancing away too. The entertainment is on late which is nice, we were just a 5-minute walk from the entertainment.
The Entertainment team are also on during the day with kids’ entertainment so even on the rainy days there is lots to do, and you aren’t reliant on the weather.
Funworks arcade
As with all Havens, the arcade was really good, they always have lots of machines. If you haven’t been to a haven before you may not be familiar with winning tickets. Most of the machines give you tickets as you win and then when you finish your arcading you put your tickets in a ticket eater, it counts them, and you pick a prize. I must admit that to get a decent prize you need to win a lot of tickets, so the prize ends up costing 5 times the price that you would have paid in a shop but we love it, and it is really good fun.
ACTIVITIES AT Hafan Y Mor
Family karts
Nature Trail
Kayak and Paddleboarding
Archery
Dodgeball
Aerial adventure
Pedalos
Bike Hire
Den Building
Entertainment during the Day at the Holiday Park
The daytime entertainment is great for children of all ages, there is plenty to do during the day. There were lots going on in the day near the swimming pool area and also in the place where the nightly entertainment is. The park in the adventure area is enough to keep children occupied all day. There is also a sand and water pit that my little girl loved going in, her clothes not so much.
Overall Summary of Hafan Y Mor
I loved this haven park, it is definately one of my favourites. There was loads to do, the swimming was incredible and the kids loved it, the entertainment was excellent, there was plenty of food choices. I must admit the resturant experience and having to pay for a high chair were the only negatives on this holiday break, If you are looking for fun and plenty to do then this place is a must visit. I would rate this Haven a massive 9/10.
