Marton Mere Blackpool Haven Review
Today we bring you our honest Haven Marton Mere Blackpool Review. If you have been following our blogs and YouTube videos recently, you may think we are actually part of the seaside squad we have been here that much, but I have just been on a mission to review as many Havens as I can in 2023.
Now, before we get started, I want to share that I live about 10 minutes drive from Marton Mere Blackpool, but as this holiday park has been requested so many times didn’t want to let you down, we decided to take our caravan there so we can do a full review for you.
I live in a beautiful place called Lytham St Anne’s, and if you come to Marton Mere Blackpool, I highly recommend coming and checking it out during your stay, you will absolutely love it.
There are lots of things to do in Blackpool with kids, including Nickelodeon Land https://www.mybump2baby.com/nickelodeon-land-blackpool-review/
Havens In Blackpool
There are actually 2 Haven’s in Blackpool, one called Marton Mere (the one we are reviewing today) and one called Cala Gran which is in Fleetwood, Blackpool.
Blackpool – Cala Gran or Merton Mere?
Marton mere is bigger and is within walking distance to Blackpool Zoo and Stanley Park, and it takes around 10 minutes to get to the seafront in a car.
Cala Gran is in Blackpool but if you do want to make the most of being in Blackpool and visiting Blackpool Tower, The Pleasure Beach etc Marton Mere is closer.
Marton Mere is also a bigger site than Cala Gran, and the feedback and reviews on the whole are more in favour of Marton Mere.
I have recently also shared my Lakeland Haven Review; my Blue Dolphin review and Presthaven Sands review too if you want to take a look.
Accommodation at Haven Blackpool
There are 4 caravan types you can stay in at Marton Mere
The Saver Caravan (cheapest)
The Bronze Caravan
The Silver Caravan
The Gold Caravan (most expensive)
WiFi at Haven Blackpool
The WiFi was strong within the complex and limited outside of there. It is difficult to say if you will get WiFi in your static as it is dependent on where your caravan is located. We have invested in a EE box previously and that has been a great investment for us when it comes to wifi.
Places to Eat at Marton Mere Haven
Last time we went for a caravan break we ordered Morrisons Delivery through Amazon Prime to be delivered to our Caravan, this was a game changer, I highly recommend it, you can do that here.
At Marton Mere Haven there is a huge restaurant called the boat house, we were able to get in here easily if we wanted to. I would always book just in case after our experience at Lakeland, you can read the full Lakeland Haven Review for more information. The menu was reasonably priced, we bought 2 paninis for £9.99 plus one chip for an additional £1.00, and George ate for £1.00 so for all 3 of us to have lunch before we headed home it was £12.00.
On the first night my son George was keen to get in the entertainment as soon as possible so we decided to order our Burger King to the table in the show bar (where the entertainment is).
Each table has a QR code, you can scan it with your phone and order your chosen takeaway to get it brought to you.
Activities at Marton Mere Haven
The climbing wall
The big jump
Adventure golf
Splash park
Swimming (free) I recommend pre-booking to avoid disappointment
Parks
Kart hire plus much more
All the activities are around the same area which means that parents can sit and have a coffee or wine (my 2 favourites) whilst they watch their little ones play which was nice but I do think too many days like this and it would start to get a bit boring.
Swimming at Blackpool Haven
The indoor pool is a great size, it isn’t the most exciting pool inside but from the end of May they open the outside pool up, and it looks amazing. The outdoor pool has a big slide and a lazy river-type pool.
Don’t forget to pack your baby’s swimming nappies, I do recommend investing in these reusable swimming nappies.
Blackpool Haven Park Entertainment
The Entertainment was brilliant and open till 12am. The Entertainment team were fabulous, and we watched the “Hollywood” show which was really enjoyable, the entertainment crew were amazing singers too.
There is a little shop for kids in the entertainment area, be careful not to get caught out with the bubble guns, you may end up spending a fortune replacing the bubble bottles. It is £1.99 for a small bottle of bubbles if you have a “trigger-happy” child like mine. I made this mistake when doing our Hafan Y Mor Review so now I do stick to the light-up toys instead.
The Arcade at the Holiday Park Blackpool
The arcade has the usual machines plus some simulators too, our little boy was very happy with this area. They have contactless machines for cash which is handy. They had rides for little ones, 2p machines, slot machines, bowling etc.
Shops at Haven Blackpool
The mini markets at the Havens are always good. You can get anything you need from there within reason and if not it is a short drive to the big Tesco superstore which is around 5 minutes away in a car, as mentioned further up, you could order a delivery which means you have more room in your car and less stress of the frozen goods melting.
The Touring Pitch at Haven Blackpool
We chose the hard standing euro pitch, we made the mistake of not choosing a hard standing pitch when we did our Blue Dolphin Review and our caravan ended up being really muddy.
There is limited WiFi for this area which can be frustrating. We do have a built in WiFi box so it didn’t really affect us.
Full Review and Score out of 10 for Marton Mere Blackpool
I liked this park, we only stayed for one night. I personally feel that I would get bored easily here unless we had plans to venture off the site.
Now don’t get me wrong, there is plenty to do at this holiday park and luckily for us the weather was so nice but everything is grouped together and I couldn’t see myself sat in the same place for more than 2 days without getting bored to be honest.
Blackpool Marton Mere is definitely one of the smaller Haven’s I would say it is a similar size to Lakeland perhaps even smaller it does have a few more extras like the Splash Park and Big outdoor slide.
The fact you are so close to Blackpool is a massive plus and makes here worth visiting. If this Haven was in the middle of no where I wouldn’t bother visiting it for more than 2 days but if you are planning on getting out there are some great places to see.
Here are a few;
Sandcastle Water Park
Blackpool Tower
Stanley park
Lytham
Lytham St Anne’s
Blackpool Beach
I would give this Haven a 7 out of 10.
