Blue Dolphin Haven Review

Today we share our honest Blue Dolphin Haven Review, this is the longest holiday we have personally done on any of our many Haven holidays, we did 4 nights on the tourer pitch, and we loved it. Now the touring site was a little bit of a walk to the entertainment at blue dolphin holiday park, but we didn’t mind.
There are lots of different Haven sites for a touring caravan or a static caravan and we have recently written up our Lakeland Haven Review you can also read our Presthaven Sands Review if Wales is of interest. The Haven holiday parks are our favourite, we have been coming to Haven for 6 years now, and we never get tired of it.
We also went to Scotland Haven and wrote up our Seton Sands Haven Review.
Where is Blue Dolphin Haven?
This Haven is located in Filey, we visited Flamingo Land whilst we were here which was around 30-40 minutes away and we also went out for the day to Scarborough which was only a 15-minute drive and will be worth the visit if anything for the lovely fish and chips at The Salt Rock and also the stunning park.
Blue Dolphin Filey Accommodation options
Usually, if you opt for a static caravan, you can choose between Friday – Monday, Monday to Friday or a full week, with the tourer area you have a bit more flexibility because you are in your own caravan.
The Static caravans have an option between Bronze (saver caravan) Silver and a gold caravans. We used to stay in the bronze caravans but as soon as we tried a silver, we decided we would never go back to bronze, and now we have our own caravan we take that to the tourer pitches instead. You can take a look at the essential items you need to bring to a Haven holiday if you are staying in a static caravan.
We are heading to Hafan Y Mor in Wales in the next few weeks, and we have booked a silver static caravan for that, I am looking forward to a change.
Blue Dolphin Touring Pitch recommendations
I want to share this because we are new to caravan life and I wish someone had told me NOT to choose the grass pitch, the grass pitch is cheaper, but it was very muddy, and we had to go and fill our aqua roll (water unit) a few times a day, whereas on the euro pitch, you avoid the mud because you are on a hard standing pitch and you have a constant flow of water if you have the hose adapter which makes the trip a low maintenance trip, the euro pitches are more expensive but in our eyes totally worth it, we would definitely avoid grass pitches moving forward.
Toilet Blocks, Facilities and Amenities on the Touring Caravan Area
The toilet block was clean and had an area for showers too. The showers were ok, they were stop start showers so you had to keep pressing the button but they were ok. The toilet blocks were open all night which was great for all the campers. We have a toilet in our caravan and also a shower too.
Wi-Fi at blue dolphin holiday park
The Wi-Fi for us was pretty much none existent, we have our own built-in Wi-Fi box for the caravan which allows us to watch Netflix and stream movies just like we would at home.
The Wi-Fi is good near the entertainment so if you need Wi-Fi it might be worth opting for a caravan close to the entertainment, for us it was a good 10-minute walk to the entertainment, but as mentioned, we were on the tourer part which is the furthest away.
If you have kids that rely on ipads I recommend downloading on to Netflix so they can watch them on the go and you aren’t reliant on WIFI.
Swimming Indoor and Outdoor Pools at Haven
The indoor Swimming pool at Haven was good, there was a big slide, and the slide doesn’t go into the main pool so it is good for kids that aren’t confident swimmers, the pool was warm enough and really enjoyable for the kids, they loved it. There is also an outdoor pool at the blue dolphin, but this is not open until the end of May.
I recommend pre-booking the swimming pool before you go to Haven because you will struggle to get in. Swimming is part of the entertainment pass so as long as you have one of these you will be able to enjoy swimming during your break.
Free Soft Play Area
There was a soft play area that is open daily from 10 am until 5 pm, this is great if you have little toddlers that can’t take part in many of the activities, my daughter who is 15 months loved this area, and so did my son who is nearly 7. We used this soft play area a few times it was a godsend when it rained one day, it stopped us from having to go into the arcade and spend a fortune.
Arcade at Blue Dolphin holiday park
The arcades are always good in the Havens, you can end up spending a lot, this haven was different, we don’t carry round cards with us and rely on contactless machines however none of these were actually working so until we had a trip out of the park we couldn’t use any of the machines in the arcade.
The arcade had a mix of machines including 2p machines to games and arcade machines, they also had virtual reality games too and it was great for families with children of all ages.
The Evening Entertainment
The evening entertainment was probably the best I have seen at the haven parks, there were 2 bars both with different entertainment on, we played bingo, there were game shows and discos for the kids, the bar prices were reasonable, and we really enjoyed each evening, so much so we made a conscious effort to go each night, we usually skip a night or two.
Food and Restaurants at Haven Blue dolphin holiday park
There are lots of different food outlets to choose from, you have Burger King, Papa John’s, Fish and Chips and the main Brigghouse restaurant. Each of the takeaways also delivers if you fancy a night in your caravan. There is also the mini market if you want to cook something.
We went to the restaurant one evening, we pre-booked, and it was great, the kids ate for £1 if we bought a meal so it was a no brainier for us. The restaurant had good service, and we had a lovely lady called Hannah serve us, and she was really friendly.
There is a little ice cream van that goes around the park with a lovely lady that works on it, we found all the staff really lovely at this Haven.
There is also a desert van that is outside the entertainment, they serve donuts and waffles, I highly recommend the donuts with the salted caramel sauce it was amazing!!
The Mini Market
The mini market has a hot counter if you want to grab a bacon sandwich in the morning, it also has a little fresh area where you can big up baguettes and pan de chocolates, it has everything you need in the shop as well as nice little toy and souvenir area. The shop is open every day until 10 pm.
The Blue Dolphin Holiday park Facilities
We brought our bikes and cycled around the park and there is so much to do, you could hire karts to peddle around, they also had a boating area and sports area too. The outdoor parks were fantastic and they had so many activities to choose from.
Summary of Blue Dolphin Holiday Park
This has definitely been one of my favourite Have holiday parks we have been to, I found all of the staff really attentive and kind, they went above and beyond and they seem like such a great team at this Haven, the prices were good, not too expensive and we had a brilliant time.
We would rate this Blue Dolphin Holiday park Haven 8 out of 10, it would be good if they had a couple more places for food to choose from and Primrose Valley down the road had a beach which we really enjoyed last time, this one doesn’t have a beach but is definitely still well worth the visit.
