Primrose Valley Haven Review
Primrose Valley Review
As the Summer draws to a close, we decided to squeeze in one last break before our eldest son George heads back to school. We previously went to Presthaven Sands in April and we were desperate to try Primrose Valley in Filey (23 minutes from the beautiful Scarborough), you can read our Presthaven Sands review here. During our vacation this year we decided to share our honest Primrose Valley Review. You can read our nearby Blue Dolphin Review too, if you are interested in heading to a Haven in Filey or if you are looking in North Wales you can read our Hafan Y Mor Haven Review
Usually, we don’t go to Haven in the summer holidays as we do like to go abroad, which means we usually find ourselves heading home early on Sunday to make sure George gets home for school on Monday but with it being the super Holiday we are getting a full three nights which seems like a long break to us.
Primrose Valley is on the North Yorkshire coast in a place called Filey.
A Gold caravan at Primrose Valley Holiday Park
We decided to opt for the gold caravan at Primrose Valley Filey Haven after selecting the saver caravan in April and being left without central heating. I told my husband that I would never go back to Haven holiday park again unless we upgraded, so here we are in our gold caravan.
I must admit, we love a bargain, so saver caravans when we want to get away have been great in the past, but quite honestly we seemed to be getting worse caravans every single time.
The Gold Caravan at Primrose Valley Holiday Park had the following;
1. Dishwasher
2. More room
3. Extra living space
4. Dining table
5. 2 comfy couches
6. Larger TV in the lounge
7. Bigger bathroom
8. TV in the bedroom
9. Central heating boost button
10. Ensuite in the master bedroom
11. Bluetooth speaker built-in
First Impressions of Primrose Valley Holiday Park
My first impressions of Primrose Valley was how clean it looked and how big it was, there were two parts to the park, one part was where you could hire karts, and go on boat rides, it seemed more like an activity side of the park, and then there was the restaurants and arcades and entertainment on the other.
We were a few minutes walk from the stunning sandy beach too which was absolutely perfect for an August weekend.
Check-in at Haven Holidays Caravan Park
There is no longer a check-in, you receive an email the day before with your plot and a map, and then you can head straight to the caravan.
Book activities before your Arrival
You can book the activities 4 weeks before you go at the moment, you need to book swimming too.
You can book things via the new improved Haven app which is really useful, you can also download another app called haven serve where you can order deliveries for food.
There are two swimming pools, our favourite was the splash park located near the arcade and fun works, the other pool is more activity based so they have lots of group activities in that pool, but the pool in our opinion isn’t as good as the splash one. You definitely should try both though.
The Gold Caravan, Primrose Valley
As previously mentioned we booked the gold caravan. You can park outside your caravan which is really handy (unlike Whinfell Forest Center Parcs)
You walk straight into the hallway and to your right, there was the main bathroom, 2 double kids’ bedrooms and the main bedroom with a bathroom.
To the left, there was the kitchen/diner. I couldn’t believe how big it was in comparison to the previous saver and bronze caravans. It was like it had never been lived in. It was very baby friendly and clean.
Kitchen
The kitchen had a lovely colour scheme and I couldn’t believe how many appliances there were, like I said I hadn’t been to a caravan in about 2o years, it looks they have come along a lot since I was a child.
I loved the fact that the kitchen and dining room were together and even more so the fact we could watch TV whilst we ate.
Kitchen appliances included;
• Fridge/Freezer
• Microwave
• Kettle
• Cooker
• Oven
• Grill
There were plenty of pots and pans to use for cooking as well as cups, plates, mugs and cutlery.
The Master Bedroom
The main bedroom had a double bed with plugs at either side for phone chargers and also a nice boost button to give the caravan a heated boost before you get up in the morning. We had an en-suite and also a dresser with a build in hair dryer and wardrobe with an extra duvet.
Children’s Bedroom
The children’s bedroom had 2 single beds, there were two children’s bedrooms. There was no tv in the bedrooms. There was a wardrobe and plug sockets next to the bed.
Bathroom
The bathroom had a shower which was easy to use, it also had a sink with a mirror and cupboards above. The bathroom was a good side.
The shower was powerful and easy to use. If only it was soundproof from children ha we can all dream!

Overall Summary of Primrose valley holiday park
This has honestly been my favourite Haven holiday park so far, I loved being close to filey beach, the weather was amazing. We all had a great holiday and loved the sea views right near our caravan. We felt this holiday was great value and we preferred this site to Blue Dolphin down the road, we are yet to review Reighton Sands.
